working from a poem

I had this idea about taking quotes I really liked, doing a piece of computer art that reflected the feeling of the poem. As I worked with it, my idea changed into taking the original thought from the poem and doing my own writing that hopefully depicted the feeling and idea behind the poem. Following are two such examples in their beginning stages of development. After each will be the quote that inspired my own versions.Hold fast to dreams for if dreams die, life is a winged bird that cannot fly.
Langston Hughes

Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon? Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life? Mary Oliver
